Workshops
ArtSpecs Lab offers a variety of workshop themes. We include drawing, photography, film and recycled crafts into many of these workshops. Classes are designed to provide children with different levels of advancement, art experience and skills. Stationed in Berlin, the ASL is a mobile organization allowing workshops to be given at schools, festivals, private settings, etc. Each participating child is presented with a certificate of accomplishment.
:::Little Visionaries Workshop
The Little Visionaries Workshop (LVW) is designed to give kids the freedom to experiment with all creative processes that eventually result in a short film. The LVW uses drawing, theater, photography and film as ways to interpret each child's inspiration. The workshops are structured with brainstorming exercises and storyboard drawing, building to the ultimate goal of making a short video.
This workshop is intended for children over 6 years of age.
:::Working with Schools
ASL travels to schools to give workshops on various themes. A few previously given workshops are Sesame Street, Halloween, autumn, upcycling/ recycling or Snoopy. Our workshops are a mixture of informative learning and doing creative projects. Piggy banks, snow globes, puppets, drawings and films are just some of our past crafts. Whenever possible, we try to incorporate recycled materials into our projects.
ASL also works with English-teaching schools. In these environments we create games and activities to encourage English vocabulary learning.
:::Community Projects
A more flexible structure is provided for our community projects. For certain settings, such as festivals and shorter workshops, a different structure and thematic focus is more compatible. Kids helped ASL document the Recycled Creativity Festival 2012 providing interviews and subjects for the film. At the Berlin Metropolitan School, kids were challenged about their knowledge of recycling after doing recycled crafts.
